Assessment Tools that Support Cross-Cultural Training
and Coaching

There are numerous assessments possible that coaches and trainers use in their work,
each focusing on different aspects of personal and/or professional growth. Avenir owner,
Colleen Mizuki, is certified to administer and interpret the following.

MBTI (Myers-Briggs Type Indicator and MBTI): This tool, based on typological theories of Carl Gustav Jung, assesses what is typically considered as “personality” traits. It is a widely used instrument for self-understanding, individual development and improved relations.

FIRO-B: This assessment looks at an individual’s need for inclusion, control and affection and how these needs shape interactions with people in professional and personal environments

CERNY-SMITH:This is a specialized tool, based in extensive psychological research, that assesses intercultural adjustment and skills in cross-cultural settings. Used for coaching and to assist HR in the retention of business executives, employees, and their families as well as supporting those going abroad for diplomatic, military, and humanitarian purposes.
